Is this considered overprotective or just being a freak of a parent?

So when I was younger my mom had some weird rules. Like for example for some reason she WOULD NOT let me watch the exorcist movie until I was 16, but she would let me watch Rambo at 14. I was fair skinned as a child, and in the summer my mom would NOT let me apply my own sunblock and would lather me up before we went to the beach or swimming herself until I was 14. Would you consider that to be overprotective, or just sort of a freak thing as in rules? what are your thoughts?
