What should a young couple do for valentine's day?

If it's really important to you guys then you could go to a nearby town to eat in a fancier restaurant. Same thing with the movie. Or if the fancy restaurant and movie doesn't work or isn't that important you could make pizza or get the frozen stuff and have a movie night at one of your houses. Just make sure there is someone else besides just the two of you in the house because no matter what you say you could get in trouble when no one is there. As for a present for him? Guys can be hard to find things for. Think about what he likes and get him something that is sentimental to both of you. It doesn't have to be expensive to be sentimental.
