Ipod troubles (pword help!)?

okay so, i got my pod taken away, and now i cant get the thing unlocked! I cannot open the thing to save my life!! is there any way to override the lock or...scoot around it...? if there isnt dont put "try to remember it" cuz what do you think im doing !i don have the new updated version yet so keep that in mind.
