Just wonderin wat i shood get 4 wen i brake my stallion colt who will bee 2 in march?

well my stallion colt shaku will bee 2 in march which is really cool b/c that means i will be able to break him soon right now i'm just gonna put my english saddle on him and the bridle with the bit and stuff but wen i start riding i dont no if i shood ge split reins or regular reins b/c if i fall off i dont want him to step on the split reins and hurt his mouth but i think splint reins look cooler and are better and last longer then regular reins. what do YOU think i shood get?
