Shoulder specifics from scans?
You have an inflammation of the joint under the deltoid, which is causing problems in its normal movement. The C refers to the C Spine (Cervical spine, which is the spine in the neck area, the numbers represent each bone). There are discs in between that cushion each bone. When there is a problem, the disc gets more narrow (wears down). There's a bony growth on the right side of C3/4 and slight wearing down of the back right hand side of the bone. There's a disc that's protruded (I don't know the cause, but commonly referred to as "slipped disc" by some) which is not putting pressure or compressing the spinal cord (the spinal cord is the bundle of nerves that go down the middle of all the bones - the bones are meant to protect the spinal cord. The "spine" refers to the bones, or "backbones"). Yes, it is worthwhile to operate if that's the option you were given, and if your MD and you agree that the pain will be alleviated. This is pretty common. It mostly happens to people who are very physical (sports, etc.). It's mainly replacing the affected joints and preventing bones from rubbing against each other. Some wake up after the surgery with LESS pain - that should give you an idea. Talk to your MD!!! Good luck, and I hope you get well soon!
