How can i get my hair curly?

I have stick straight hair! I put rollers on for the night and it doesn't work! I have gone to salons and it works for an hour to two hours. I love wavy hair/ discreet curls. I am considering a wavy perm. I want my ends to curl. I love that look. Does anyone advise against a perm? Pros/Cons please.
