Fluorescent bulbs VS. incandescent bulbs... Why do we ''HAVE'' to make the switch?

Fluorescent bulbs don't use as much energy as incandescent bulbs and you can even get fluorescent bulbs that mimic sunshine as opposed to your comment about "depressing light." I personally take umbrage at just about anything I am FORCED to embrace versus suggesting I embrace the idea, however, in this particular instance, I can see the good of it and will not take offense to being forced to make the switch. We had fluorescent light in our previous house and lived there 8 years without ever once changing a bulb. That's not something you can say about incandescent!
