Professional MMA fighters?

Im wondering a few things about these guys, about how many hours a day do they train and condition? Is it possible to make a living as a professional fighter if you fought enough? Not talking about the UFC guys, I mean just normal professional fights that arent televised. Ive heard of people making up to a couple thousand per fight after making a name for themselves, I figured if you were able to fight once a month or so, then youd be able to make a living at it, right? If not, what kind of jobs do pro mma fighters usually maintain?
